Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Full Lace Wig?

Full lace wigs will have lace all around the unit, and require the lace to be cut all around the unit. You will be cutting a hairline around your entire head. By doing so, once done you can wear your hair anyway you like, ponytails, up-dos etc. Once the unit is applied, you will have on a full hair wig.  It will appear that all of the hair is growing directly from your head and it will give you maximum styling options. Full lace wigs are manufactured with a cap, and a thin lace sewn on top of the cap. Individual hairs are then sewn into the thin lace.

What is a Lace Front Wig?

The wig will appear that it is growing directly from your head. When you receive the unit it will have excess lace right around the perimeter, you will cut the lace along the front of the unit. Can I recolor or restyle the wig?

It is made from 100% Human Hair so it can be restyled and recolored.  Take care of the following tips though:

Colour tip:

We strongly recommend that you buy the colour of y our choice from the start, as during colouring, the hair may be over processed or damaged. We are not responsible for any damaged caused on the unit during dying, however should you decide to recolor your unit, take care not to colour the lace and make sure that you use a good brand of colour and that you follow the instructions of the manufacturer carefully.

Style tip:

Should you decide to cut bangs or layers into your unit, just make sure that you understand that the bangs and/ or layers will not grow out, hence you will be stuck with the style!.  Your unit can be flat-ironed straight or recurled, however make sure that your styling tool is on a setting not too high as to damage your hair.  Try to keep heat styling to an absolute minimum e.g. it is not recommended to flat-iron your hair every day.

Can I shower or swim with lace wig on?

Yes, you definitely can. Just make sure that you cover your wig with a swimming cap for swimming or shower cap to shower.  The bond might loosen if it gets wet, if it is small areas you can just redo.  Should you swim in the ocean or in a pool with chemicals, it is recommended that you remove your wig after swimming as the salt and chemicals might destroy your hair.  It needs to be wash immediately to rinse out all chemicals.

Can I use blow dryer to dry my hair after washing?

No, we do not recommend blow-drying at all as it will distort the shape of the wig and it will rip loose the knots thus letting the wig shed excessively.  It is recommended that you let your unit air dry before styling.

Can I wear my lace wig in a high ponytail?

Yes, you can wear your wig in a high ponytail once you apply around your full perimeter with adhesives, but it needs to be a full lace wig however.

Can I wear this wig if my head is full of hair?

Yes, you can also wear the hair after braiding your own hair in small cornrows or straight back. Also you can simply wrap your hair back.

Can I wear this wig if my head is with no hair?

Yes. These wigs are perfect choice for women with hair loss caused by cancer, alopecia and etc.

All our units are freestyle & can be parted any where you wish.

Do all new wigs come with excess lace in the front

Yes, the excess lace is your what we here in SA know as “Your box is your guarantee’. Should your new wig not have the excess lace on, please do not accept it as it might not be new. You are only to cut off the extra lace once you have made sure the the unit fits your head perfectly and that there are no bald patches and tears in your unit. Only whilst it still has the lace on can it be returned. You cut off the excess lace as close to the hairline as possible taking effort not to cut off any of the babyhairs, if you get one or two that is fine, but be very careful.

Do I have to cut my hair in order to apply a lacewig?

Absolutely not! Lacewigs doesn’t rely on a single strand of your own hair to look natural or beautiful. In fact your own hair is kept rested and oiled and growing underneath your lacewig. People with alopecia has reported that they’re own hair has grown strong underneath their lacewig as it doesn’t get any wear and tear at all. You don’t even have to relax or put any chemicals on it at all, you should just keep it washed and very nicely oiled and it will grow strong naturally, whilst on top there is beautiful hair looking like your own.

Do I have to wear a wig cap with the wig?

No, you do not need to use any wig caps under the wig. You can easily part your own hair at the same point as your wig before wearing the unit, which will make your parting on the wig while in use, however in our best working method, we use a lighter wig cap and blend it with some make-up should it be too light.  All the information will be given in training and in the training materials.

Does the straight hair wave up when wet?

Straight units will not wave up too much, but if you’ve ordered a curled/ curly unit, it will go curly or wavy after it has been washed, however it will not retain its original curl that you first received it in.

How can I avoid my hair from shedding?

The hair will shed very lightly, but shedding more than your natural hair would be irregular. Be sure NOT TO apply any products including alcohol onto the hair of your full lace wig, such as some kinds of hair spray, because these improper products will lead to damage the hair and hair shedding will be found easily.
You may braid up the hair of your full lace wig or tie it in a ponytail before going to sleep so as to avoid any tangles. Use a scarf on your head or a hair bonnet when sleeping, which will reduce less breaking and shedding of the hair for your full lace wig.
Remember that chlorine and salt water may cause damage to the hair of full lace wig, so you need to wear a swim cap during swimming or wash the full lace wig after swimming to avoid chlorine and salt water left on the hair of your wig. After washing, use Knot Sealer to seal the knots onto the inside of your lace wig cap again in order to firm the knots on each hair tile for protection from shedding.

How do I attach or wear the wig?

All the information will be given in training and in the training materials.

How do I prevent the lace wig from tangling?

You may choose a satin pillowcase for night sleep in order to avoid friction. Cotton pillowcases with fibers rub against your hair, oppositely, satin pillowcases let the hair slip freely. A cheaper option is to place a satin petticoat or nightie over your cotton pillows. Do not wear any barrettes or clips on your hair overnight as these accessories will be difficult to remove in the morning. Also during washing hair, tangles may be also created due to scrubbing the hair. Brush our/ detangle your hair before showering, washing the hair, going to bed.   Do not rub the hair when washing, follow the instructions in the booklet carefully.  Only comb with a wide-tooth comb.
Keep Your Hair Tied Up: Loose hair easily get tangled and damaged due to rubbing with your clothes and being caught by straps of handbags. The most proper to protect hair from tangling is to make braids. You may practice braiding your hair during the night. When you have been already with the skill for braids, you can wear braids in various types during the day.
Meanwhile, buns are also way for protection of hair from tangles.
Removing Knots From Hair: Bobble-tipped brushes might cause damage to your hair and cannot remove any knots as you suppose. You shall use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to detangle the hair starting from the bottom several inches to up towards. You can begin with the bottom of a knot and remove it out, instead of pulling it widely. After detangling, you shall take a boar bristle brush for polishing and protecting your hair from damage.

How long can I expect the wig to last?

The lifespan of your wig will depend on your use and care of it. If handled properly, it should last you up to 3 years with regular repairs in between. The better care you take of your unit, the longer it will last.  Should you purchase a Care package, you will receive the training and the training materials, which contains information on how to properly take care of your investment.

How to measure the length of the wigs?

The hair length should be from the head top to the hair bottom as the hair is straight. The curl and wavy wig is process from a straight wig, so in the same length, curl and wavy wig will be shorter by 1"-2" (it depends on how deep the curl is) than straight wig.
